Tourist Information

The village of High Halden lies in the Weald of Kent on the A28 (Canterbury to Hastings road) three miles from the Cinque Port town of Tenterden, which is known as "The Jewel of the Weald."

With its wealth of historic buildings, museums, vineyards, antique shops, art and craft galleries, and tea-rooms, Tenterden has much to offer, including the Kent and East Sussex Railway Station from which you can journey along the Rother Valley to East Sussex on the grand steam trains.

Bodiam Castle
There are many castles nearby to explore, such as the beautiful Leeds Castle, Sissinghurst Castle, Bodiam, Scotney, Tonbridge, Rochester, Maidstone and Dover Castles.

Other Cinque Ports include the lovely town of Rye, Winchelsea, Sandwich, Hastings, Dover, Romney and Hythe (home to the Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch Steam Railway).

Coastal towns such as Broadstairs, Ramsgate, Herne Bay and Whitstable, are pleasant seaside resorts, some with working harbours for the fishing industry and various sailing vessels.

The wonderful Cathedral City of Canterbury, with its quaint walkways, cobbled streets, ancestral buildings some dating back to Roman times, is fascinating. For those who just want to venture into the well-known shops and departmental stores you will not be disappointed.
